The Site Engineer for MyTurn Limited, Ing. Bismark Kpobi, has clarified that the company’s current Big Push contract on the Chuchuliga–Sandema road covers the first 10 kilometres, with work expected to be completed by December 2026.
He disclosed this when Upper East Regional Minister Donatus Akamugri Atanga inspected the project as part of efforts to clarify the different funding arrangements for sections of the Navrongo–Chuchuliga–Sandema corridor.
According to Ing. Kpobi, the company has completed earthworks and laid base beams up to the 10km mark.
“Our contract, which is under the Big Push, at 10km ends about 800m from where we are standing. And as we speak today, we have completed all our earthworks up to, we’ve even laid beams up to the 10km,” he told journalists.
He said the remaining works include final preparation and sealing, which will continue until the end of the year.
“It’s final pressing works, which is going to be a constant activity we’ll be having from now up to December. We will actually seal the road up to 10km plus, which is the official Big Push contract on the Chuchuliga-Sandema road,” he said.
Ing. Kpobi clarified that the section from the end of the 10km stretch to Sandema, approximately 4.8km to 5km, has not been abandoned but falls under a different funding package.
“Behind us here is the existing seal leading towards Sandema. From here to Sandema town is about 4.8km, a little to 5km. And we are hoping that under the Ministry of Roads and Highways, they have actually taken inventory of this section towards, all through to Fumbisi,” he said.
The Site Engineer expressed hope that MyTurn Limited would be awarded an extension under a future phase of the Big Push programme to continue work through Sandema to Fumbisi.
“So we are hoping that in the next Big Push, we will be given an extension through Sandema, to Fumbisi. So it is not like this place has been currently abandoned. No, it’s under a different package. But presently we are focusing on the first 10km,” he said.
He expressed confidence that, all things being equal, the current 10km stretch would be completed by December 2026.
The Regional Minister’s visit formed part of efforts to update residents on the scope and funding arrangements of road projects in the region and monitor progress on ongoing works.
