The Ministry of Energy has approved the construction of an electricity substation for the Bongo District to help address persistent power supply challenges, District Chief Executive Diana Asoketarige Ayamga has said.
Madam Ayamga said she was informed of the approval during a recent visit to the office of the Regional Volta River Authority (VRA) Manager, where she raised concerns about electricity challenges affecting communities in the district.
According to the DCE, the Regional VRA Manager informed her that Bongo had been approved to receive a substation as part of efforts to improve electricity supply in the area.
She said the project is expected to help address some of the electricity challenges experienced by residents and meet the district’s growing demand for reliable power.
Madam Ayamga said the Bongo District Assembly is engaging the relevant authorities and institutions to move the project to the next stage.
She expressed optimism that the construction of the substation would improve electricity supply and support socio-economic activities in the district.
Several communities in Bongo continue to experience challenges with electricity supply, prompting calls for improvements in the district’s power infrastructure.
The DCE said the Assembly would continue engaging the relevant authorities to ensure the proposed substation is constructed and electricity services in the district are improved.
