Youth of Tindonsobligo Zebugo in the Upper East Region have mobilised to repair portions of the deteriorating Victory-Kalbeo road, filling potholes and gravelling sections to make the route more motorable.
The intervention follows concerns over the poor condition of the road, which serves residents of Tindonsobligo Zebugo and Kalbeo and provides an important route for farmers accessing the Kalbeo Forest for farming activities.
Residents say sections of the road have developed deep potholes, making movement difficult and unsafe, particularly for motorists and farmers transporting people, farm inputs and produce.
With the condition of the road continuing to affect their daily activities, the youth mobilised to undertake temporary repairs rather than wait for government intervention.
Speaking on the initiative, youth leader Nyaaba Asawaa said the exercise was intended to provide immediate relief to residents and farmers who depend on the road.
The youth filled potholes and applied gravel to some of the most deteriorated sections to improve movement along the route.
They, however, stressed that the communal effort is only a temporary intervention and cannot substitute for a comprehensive rehabilitation of the road.
The youth are therefore appealing to the government, the District Assembly and other relevant authorities to rehabilitate the Victory-Kalbeo road before its condition deteriorates further.
They believe improving the road would ease transportation, support farming activities and improve connectivity between Tindonsobligo Zebugo, Kalbeo and surrounding areas.
