The Presiding Member of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Lambert Akunzebe, has declared his intention to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Organiser position in the Bolgatanga Central Constituency.
Mr Akunzebe, who is also the Assembly Member for the Bolga-Soe Electoral Area, says he wants to use his experience in party organisation and local governance to build a more active and organised youth wing. He was elected Presiding Member of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly in June 2026.
“My journey has been one of service, organization, leadership and commitment. Today, I offer that experience to the NDC Youth Wing,” he said in a declaration announcing his bid.
Mr Akunzebe said he joined the NDC in 2004 as a teenager and has since served in various capacities, including Branch Youth Organiser, polling agent, Branch Treasurer and Branch Chairman for the Residential Area No. 1 branch in Soe.
His local government experience includes serving two terms as Assembly Member for the Bolga-Soe Electoral Area and Chairman of the Security and Justice Sub-Committee of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly. He also served as Chairman of the Bolgatanga Zonal Council from 2020 to 2024 before his election as Presiding Member.
Mr Akunzebe said his campaign would focus on grassroots organisation, youth empowerment, communication and leadership development within the party.
“I envision a Youth Wing that is united, organized, active, inclusive and empowered, one that works beyond elections and creates opportunities for young people to participate, develop and lead,” he stated.
“If given the mandate, I will focus on grassroots organization, youth empowerment, effective communication, leadership development, unity and electoral preparedness,” he added.
Mr Akunzebe said he wants the constituency youth wing to remain active beyond election periods and create opportunities for young members to participate in the party and develop their leadership abilities.
“Leadership is not about a title. It is about service, accessibility and results. I am ready to listen, organize, empower and serve,” he said.
Mr Akunzebe holds a Higher National Diploma in Accounting and a degree in Management and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Administration (Human Resource) at the University of Cape Coast, according to his declaration.
He also served as Vice President of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN), the NDC’s tertiary students’ wing, at Bolgatanga Technical University in 2015.
His campaign is being run under the slogan, “Empowering the Youth, Securing the Future.”
