Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited has dismissed reports that its mining operations have been shut down by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), insisting that it holds a valid environmental permit and that its compliance records are up to date.

In a statement issued by its Public Relations Unit, the company described the reports published by Media Without Borders as false and urged the general public and its stakeholders to disregard claims that its operations had been closed.

The company said it currently holds a valid environmental permit issued by the EPA and has completed an application for its renewal, which it intends to submit before the existing permit expires.

According to Earl International, all processes, applications and payments relating to its environmental permits have been submitted in accordance with regulatory procedures and before their respective expiry dates since 2023.

It attributed delays in the issuance of permits to internal administrative challenges at the EPA, which it said had affected several mining companies across the country.

The company also addressed compliance issues identified during a nationwide environmental audit of mining companies conducted by the EPA, stating that all identified infractions had been rectified.

It said construction of an engineered Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) was ongoing under the supervision of the relevant regulatory authorities as part of efforts to meet environmental requirements.

Earl International further disclosed that it posted a reclamation bond in March 2024 and paid an administrative fine imposed over infractions identified during the environmental audit in April 2026.

On building permits, the company said permits had been obtained for ongoing projects, while applications for a few others were at various stages of issuance.

“All our compliance records with the EPA are up to date,” the statement said.

The company urged anyone seeking clarification on the purported closure notice circulating in the media to direct their inquiries to the EPA.

It reaffirmed its commitment to working with the environmental regulator in accordance with stipulated requirements to ensure environmental safety.

Earl International Group Ghana Gold Limited operates in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.
