The National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NaSIA) has commissioned its regional office in the Upper East Region, in a move aimed at strengthening school inspection and collaboration among education stakeholders.
The office, located at the Upper East Regional Education Office in Bolgatanga, was commissioned on Monday, October 19, 2026, during a brief ceremony attended by the Inspector General of Schools, Professor Tahiru Azeko; the Regional Director of NaSIA, Gilbert Baba Alolbila; and the Regional Director of Education, Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, alongside their respective teams.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Alolbila expressed gratitude to the Regional Director of Education and his team for providing office space to accommodate the Authority. He described the support as an important step towards facilitating NaSIA’s operations in the region and strengthening its engagement with education stakeholders.
The Inspector General of Schools, Professor Azeko, also commended the Regional Education Directorate for its cooperation and support in establishing the office.
He urged Mr. Alolbila to maintain effective communication and accountability to stakeholders and institutional partners, particularly the Ghana Education Service (GES), to ensure a coordinated approach to school inspection and educational improvement.
Professor Azeko subsequently handed over the keys to the refurbished office to Mr. Alolbila, urging him and his team to ensure proper maintenance and effective utilisation of the facility.
The Regional Director of Education, Mr. Abdul-Korah, commended Mr. Alolbila for what he described as an impressive presentation during an engagement with the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS) some months ago.
He expressed confidence in the NaSIA Regional Director’s ability to discharge his responsibilities effectively, assuring Professor Azeko of his confidence in Mr. Alolbila’s capacity to deliver on his mandate.
Mr. Abdul-Korah further called for stronger teamwork and collaboration among NaSIA, GES and other education stakeholders, stressing that collective efforts were necessary to improve learning outcomes across the Upper East Region.
The commissioning is expected to provide NaSIA with a dedicated operational base in the region, bringing its activities closer to schools and education partners while facilitating coordination in the inspection and monitoring of educational institutions.
The development also underscores the importance of cooperation between education regulatory bodies and the Ghana Education Service in promoting quality education and strengthening accountability within the education sector.
