Fuseini Adongo Retires Cletus Avoka

Former Majority leader and Member of Parliament for Bawku West Constituency, Hon. Cletus Avoka has lost his seat to New Patriotic Party’s Frank Fuseini Adongo.

Cletus Avoka who is one of the longest serving Members of Parliament was defeated by the NPP with 22,361 votes while he polled 22,121 in this year’s election.

The other candidates who contested in the election are Apambilla Joel Kasim, Elijah Anaa-zut-zagisi and Anafo Benjamin who represented the PPP, NDP and CPP respectively.

The sixty five years old Avoka has been in parliament for over a decade and has occupied several top positions in government including Minister for the Interior in the Mills’ administration and Minister for Lands and Forestry under the J.J. Rawlings administration.

In all the total valid votes were 45,362 with 867 rejected ballot papers and 46,229 total valid votes cast.
