Lynched Major Mahama to be buried today

Major Maxwell Mahama who was killed by the people of Denkyira-Obuasi will be given a final resting place today after a short burial service at the forecourt of the State house in Accra.

This morning, the body  of the late soldier will be moved from the 37 Military hospital to the forecourt of State house for filing past after which he will be sent to the Osu Cemetary for final interment and later final funeral rites will held at the forecourt of State house.

Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Light House Chapel in Accra on Sunday. Final funeral rites for the Major will will take place Bole and Tumu.

Major Mahama was lynched by some residents of Denkyira-Obuasi where he was on official duties to help fight the galamsey menace which has destroyed several water bodies. He left behind a widow and two children who former President John Dramani Mahama has promised to take care of.

Major Mahama’s death left the country in a state of shock as Ghanaians could not fathom why humans beings could treat their fellows in that manner. His death has triggered several measures to help fight mob action which is gradually eating into the fabric of the Ghanaian society.
