The Upper East regional minster, Rockson Bukari has asked Assembly members in the Bawku Municipal Assembly to rise above the small colorization to give the President’s nominee the opportunity to serve them in order to fast track the development agenda the NPP has for the Municipality.

The President’s nominee, Hajia Hawa Ninchema failed to make the two-third majority  mark for her confirmation after she polled 15 votes out of 27 votes cast which represent 56%.

He indicated that the existing colorization will not bring the needed development to the people of Bawku because they are the only Municipality in the region without an MCE.

He said that the people of Bawku should not be made to suffer because of the differences of their Assembly members.

The Minister promised to fast track the process in scheduling a new date for a second election but pleaded with the Assembly members to consider their people and also show respect for the President by confirming the nominee.

Meanwhile, Amadu Moqtar  Bagaya who last month was nominated as the MCE had his nomination  revoked for reasons yet to be ascertained.

A letter dated May 13, 2017 and signed by Hon David Adoliba the Presiding Member reference BMA/A.1/V.4/, stated “this office has received instructions from the Upper East Regional Minister upon a directive from the office of the President to Suspend the Special Meeting of the Assembly slated for Wednesday 17th May 2017 to confirm the President’s nominee for the position of the Bawku Municipal Chief Executive.   Further instructions on the meeting will be communicated to you in due course”
