President Akufo-Addo has warned that the gruesome murder of Major Mahama should be the last time such an incident will happen in Denkyira Obuasi and anywhere in Ghana.
According such acts cannot be condoned in a democracy like Ghana.
The President who was speaking to residents of the popular Denkyira Obuasi said he is hurt that the gruesome murder of Major Mahama happened under his regime.
He indicated that he has ordered a full scale investigation into the matter and said no individual involved will be spared by the law.
He, however, assured the people of Denkyira Obuasi a fair distribution of the national cake regardless of their predicament.
Major Mahama was murdered by some youth of Denkyira Bobuasi when his identity was mistake for an armed robber. Major Mahama was subjected to several beatings with objects including sticks, stones until he gave up the ghost.
The Army Major was posthumously promoted to the rank of a Major with government setting up a fund to support his wife and two children he left behind.
His death caused an upset in the country that most people could not fathom why human beings will subject their fellow human beings to such torturous treatment that led to his death.
