Apostolic Women’s Movement donates to orphanages

As part of their effort to fulfill a mandate of supporting the poor and vulnerable in society, members of Apostolic Women’s Movement of Bolgatanga area, a wing of Apostolic church have donated items to two orphanages in the Upper East region.

The beneficiary orphanages were supported with items such as toiletries, soaps, drinks, biscuits and cloths.

The donation exercise forms part of a four day convention of the Apostolic Women’s Movement which climaxed on Sunday.

Speaking to A1 News, Bolga Area secretary of the movement, Anna Amankwah-Minkah urged Christians and the public to demonstrate the love of God by extending a helping hand to the needed in society.

“God himself in john 3:16, He said that for God so love the world that He gave His only son. So giving is a demonstration of love. So we want to demonstrate the love of God not only by telling people that God loves you but also by giving to meet their needs”

Reverend Sister, Jacinta Kyiiru an in-charge at Mother of Mercy Babies Home in Sirigu in Kassena-Nankana West district thanked the Apostolic Women’s Movement for the gesture extended to the home.

Center for Child Development a beneficiary of the donation currently has 32 orphans living in the Next Generation home here in Bolgatanga. The center as part of measures to reduce streetism provides shelter to street children hopping in the Bolgatanga municipality and beyond. Felix Nang, a field officer of the Center for Child Development said change in behavior of the children is a major challenged the center is faced with.
