ncce_logo_newThe National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is cautioning Ghanaians especially the youth not to engage in acts that have the tendency of disturbing the prevailing peace in the country when the Supreme gives its final verdict on the 2012 election petition.

As part of its campaign for peace and national cohesion after the Supreme Court ruling, the Commission is embarking on an intensive public education and community engagement.

The Upper East Regional Director of the NCCE, Pontius Pilate Apaabey Baba made this known in a speech read on his behalf at a forum to mark this year’s National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) week celebration in Bolgatanga on Tuesday.

He appealed to all Ghanaians especially the youth in the region to contribute their quota to ensure that the relative peace in the country and the region would be sustained and not curtailed even after the Supreme Court announces its verdict

The Regional Director called on all to accept the verdict of the court as that would ensure national cohesion and ultimately promote development.

He further called the National Service personnel to selflessly uphold in high esteem the good name of the country through their patriotic services. Lawyers for the petitioners and respondents earlier today gave their oral submissions of written addresses when the Supreme Court resumed sitting this morning.

The case has been adjourned till the 14th of August 2013.
