The Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) have revealed that electricity consumers in the Upper East region owe them a total of twenty million Ghana Cedis in unpaid electricity bills.
Upper East Regional Area manager for VRA-NEDCo, Bukari Danladi made this revelation at a stakeholders’ engagement forum on power distribution in Bolagatanga on Tuesday
Mr. Danladi added that although VRA-NEDCo faces financial challenges, it is the topmost electricity supply company in Sub-Saharan Africa which operates with minimal power outages. He called on people to be considerate and understand that there are limitations in every company.
The forum which was on the theme; “Power distribution in the north: “the past, present and the future”, brought together heads and representatives of various institutions and organizations and other electricity consumers from the region to deliberate on how to make power supply in the region better.
