School feeding coordinators welcome president’s decision to appoint more women as coordinators.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been eulogized for his commitment to increasing women participation in national development and decision making.

According to a statement signed by coordinators of Ghana School Feeding Program (GSFP), government’s decision to engage majority of women as coordinators, caterers and cooks under the program is a manifestation of the president’s commitment to uplift Ghanaian women from further being marginalized.

Georgina Ayamba, Upper East Regional Coordinator of Ghana School Feeding Program on behalf of the coordinators added “some of us are who are beneficiaries of the school feeding program are widows who have to fend for ourselves under strenuous and challenging circumstances but for this opportunity, our situation could have been worse”

While thanking the president for entrusting the Ghana School Feeding Program in the hands of many women, Madam Ayamba on behalf of beneficiaries in the region pledged to ensure that the program succeeds.

“We would work assiduously and efficiently in other to improve on the quality of delivery of the school feeding program”

The coordinators also commended the sector minister, Otiko Afisah Djaba for her steering leadership since taking over office as Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

“We also appreciate the minister for her ability to address the initial agitations, misunderstanding, confrontations and tensions that existed among applicants of the school feeding program from regional and zonal coordinators as well as caterers”
