As part of measures to improve the life of people in Talensi district of the Upper East Region, a union of people from the district is mobilizing human and natural resources to help develop the area.
In achieving their aim, members of Talensi Rock Union which started in 1992 have organized series of educational events to help improve the standards of education in the district.
President of Greater Accra regional chapter of the union, Godwin Sebil Bade-Daamir, said members of the union will continue to serve as role models to change negative social vices which some youth in the area are into. Mr. Bado-Daamir said this during a speech and prize giving day for the Gbane Junior High School ‘B’.
He highlighted some gains made since the inception of the Union. “One key achievement that we felt that it’s in line with our goal was to ensure that we got a district for the area”
Mr. Bado-Daamir outlined some achievements made since the formation of the union. According to him the union also advocated for the tarring of the main Winkongo-Tongo road while holding government responsible to connect some communities in the district to the national grid.
Some students in three schools in the district were selected and honored by the union for performing creditably in various fields of academia during separate speech and prize giving days. Stakeholders who graced the three events entreated the students to shun tendencies that will jeopardize their education.
