Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo has said his inability to influence projects for his constituency is due to the fact that government has failed to release funds for infrastructural development in the country.
“There are a lot of things happening in governance. First of all, the government is not spending on projects and it is when the government is spending when you can influence projects for your constituency. In the whole of 2017 government has had a lot of challenges making money available for infrastructural development and that is the sort of governance we have inherited. If you look at all the constituencies in the Upper East region you will realize that no infrastructural development going on. Ghana is currently suffering from a governance that struggling to deliver the basic services to the people and when that happens it becomes difficult for a Member of Parliament to influence projects to his constituency.”
He, however, indicated that there are a number of programmes that are being rolled out for the people of Bolgatanga Central adding that he has secured funding for most of his projects he intends to roll out.
“I’ve been on a thank you tour since I came here for two weeks and I have been explaining my interventions I have for my constituents so with time we will roll them out to the people. I am one man who does not want to talk about things before I do them on the grounds but for some of my interventions, I have secured funding for and they will roll out in the coming days,” he told A1 Radio’s Samuel Mbura on Daybreak Upper East.
On him been adjudged the best performing Minority MP, he indicated that it came as a surprise to him because the Minority has equally good Members of Parliament. He, however, thanked the team and was optimistic about doing more in 2018.
