The manager and staff of the National Health Insurance Scheme in the Pusiga District of Upper East Region have been acknowledged for their spectacular performance in carrying out their duties in the year 2017.

The Pusiga district was created in 2016 and started operating the scheme 2017. Operations of the scheme in the district suffer poor internet connectivity taking into consideration the location of the district.

Nonetheless, the scheme was adjudged the best performing scheme beating notable schemes including Bolgatanga, Bawku and Kassena-Nankana.

This recognition was done during the just ended 2017 year performance review meeting of the National Health Insurance Authority held in Bolgatanga.

Pusiga district manager of the scheme, Biyam Barnabas in an interview with A1 NEWS attributed the success to teamwork and the zeal to serve their clients.

“Even though I’m the manager, I didn’t go there as a manager, I went there as a leader. So the secret is that I’m leading a team and I motivate them to work. I made them to know that it’s not about me being the manager, it’s all of us [staff] managing and so teamwork is one of the secrets” Mr. Biyam stated.

He has therefore admonished other managers in the region “to ensure there is collaboration” at their field of work, stating that “when MIS says I am alone, PRO says I am alone then that is what is not helping us”

The Pusiga NHIS becomes the first recipient of the Distinguished Performance Award scheme introduced in 2017 by the Regional Director of the National Health Insurance Authority, Sabestian Alangpulinsa.

Builsa scheme was adjudged the second runner-up while Talensi/Nabdam scheme emerged third.
