Delegates of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region last Saturday retained their regional Chairman, Alhaji Mumuni Bolnaba at a regional delegates’ conference. Out of 507 votes cast, Alhaji Bolnaba polled 282 votes to beat Alhaji Akasum Osman Alem, who obtained 176 votes and Ghana’s former Ambassador to Cuba and former Member of Parliament for Talensi, John Akologo Tia, who could only manage 49 votes.

The delegates also retained Donatus Akamugre as Regional Secretary, making him the longest regional of any political party in Ghana. He was first elected in 1996 and has been retaining his position till date. He polled 300 votes out of the 507 votes cast.

In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Bolnaba, called on all members of the party, especially those who contested in the election to put the past behind them and support in whatever way they could to ensure the party was well placed ahead the 2020 general elections.
