Bongo: Make productive use of holidays-DCE calls on Ghanaians

Ghanaians have been impressed upon to make judicious use of public holidays in the country.

The District Chief Executive for Bongo in the upper east region , Peter Ayinbisa is of the view that public holidays should be used for beneficial activities such as social , economic and especially health related ones in order to release the stress accumulated during productive days at work.

Mr Ayinbisa spoke to A1 News after a health walk organized by a social media group dubbed “Mature ” to mark the Founders Day in Bongo on Friday.

He pointed out that his participation in the exercise has reinvigorated and revitalised him after haven engaged in busy schedules during productive days at work, a reason he holds the conviction that holidays should be used for such activities.

“People should begin to make productive use of holidays …when I say productive use, I don’t mean going to produce goods or services but I mean we should make economic use of the day …what we have just done as Mature members is a productive use…”

The DCE also underscored the importance of holidays indicating that the offer opportunity for socialization when programs are organized.

“I want to advise everybody that during holidays whiles you are relaxing, you should make very good use of it .we should try to mingle with each other for socialization ”

According to research, severe stress and depression Increase Risk of Early Death hence, People who have high levels of both stress and depression are 48 percent more likely to die or have a heart attack compared with people that have low levels of stress and depression.

Administrator of the “Mature Group ” Edward Asekere said the group was created in 2016 with the aim and objective of bringing together people from all walks of life and profession on one platform to entertain themselves after a hard day’s work to release stress.
” what informed the decision to form this group is that you know as adults, there is always stress…you work and there is family pressure .so I thought there was the need to create a platform where we can share creative entertaining messages and things that would make you happy to release stress… The platform is opened to everybody once you are above 18 years ” he stated

He further stated that the group would soon come up with a constitution to guide members and has intentions of taking up challenges in the society to find sustainable alternatives to them.

Mr Asekere however stressed that the ‘Mature Group ” is non political because it consists of persons from different backgrounds ” if you look across you would see that we have politicians, Teachers,Journalists ,Business Men, Women and a whole lot that have come together to form this group ” he stressed

The health walk covered a distance of about 8 kilometres which started from the residence of the Bongo DCE through to the streets of the district and back to the residence for aerobics exercise.

Meanwhile, Accra Breweries Limited refreshed participants with it’s products after the exercise.
