He explained that tourism has become very important to the economy of many countries and for that matter, the three tourist sites identified have contributed significantly to the Ghana’s economic growth and development and therefore need to be upgraded to attract more Tourists into the Upper East region.

“Let me also add that, next month, training will commence for tour guides and site guides in the Northern zone. Training for those in the South already started two weeks ago. We are sure that, as we progress towards the end of the year and next year, more goodies will follow for the other Sectors in the Tourism Industry.” Mr. Yeleduor.

He also added that despite the challenges in the Tourism Sector, government will continue to play its part in promoting Tourism and working with the Ghana Tourism Authority, the business community to support the initiatives put in place to promote Tourism.

The Tourist Sites in the Upper East Region are faced with bad roads leading to the sites, absence of visitor accommodation and receptions and these must be addressed to attract more tourists and to generate more revenue from these sites.
