Members of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) in the Upper East Region have given a one-month ultimatum to the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education, the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission as well as Government to pay all salary arrears due them and address some other issues related to their conditions of service or else they will “show their might”.

At a press conference in Bolgatanga on Thursday, the Upper East NAGRAT said they were unhappy about the pace at which negotiations and steps towards resolving their outstanding issues are going. They said certain decisions and policies taken by government are inimical to the teacher.

The teachers also lamented about issues related to staff redeployments and their occupational based pension, faulting the Ghana Education Service and the National Pensions Regulatory Authority for failing teachers.

The Upper East Regional NAGRAT says the GES, Ministry of Education, Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and Government have up to April 30, 2014 to address their concerns or else they will “show their might”.
