The New Patriotic Party in the Upper East Region is preparing to launch its Regional Youth Wing come March 6, after this year’s Independence Day celebration.
The Youth Wing is expected to work in the area of membership mobilization as the party works towards maintaining power in 2020 and beyond.
The launch of the Youth Wing will come off soon after Independence Day parade and awards, and it’s expected to bring together Regional and National Executives of the New Patriotic Party. The Vice-President of Ghana, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is also expected to grace the occasion to be held in Bolgatanga.
Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party, Latif Solomon in an interview with A1 Radio said there will be a donation to some selected orphanages in the municipality as well the children’s ward of the Upper East Regional Hospital.
Asked if the Youth Wing would not turn out to be a “vigilante group”, Latif Solomon said the group will be just a social group to propagate government programmes and policies.
“They will be empowered with information to be able to get to the grassroots and talk to the people in local languages to get them to understand government programmes and policies. This is how we expect them to mobilize more members and supporters for the New Patriotic Party as we get to 2020 and even beyond.” Latif Solomon said.
