All is set for this year’s Independence Day Parade at Bongo in the Upper East Region. This is the first time the Upper East Regional event has been moved from Bolgatanga Municipality to a district, since Ghana gained independence.
The National Independence Day parade has been moved from the national capital, Accra to the Northern Region capital town, Tamale.
The people of Bongo are excited over the selection of their district to host the Regional edition, as they see the selection as an opportunity to position the district to attract people from all walks of life into the district to invest and trade.
Some school children who spoke with A1-Radio also expressed some excitement over the selection of their district, especially as they will get the opportunity see and possibly interact with the first female Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayage.
The selection of Bongo District for the Upper East Independence Day parade is apt, especially when the district has been described as a shining example in the region and been the first in the implementation many government initiatives in the region.
Peter Ayinbisa is the District Chief Executive of the Bongo and has expressed some excitement over the selection and promised that, people who attend the even in Bongo will have a good experience.
According to him, the Bongo District Assembly will take advantage of the event to market the raw and natural resource of the district, as well as the human resources of the district.
