NHIS embarks on community sensitization of mobile renewals

The Bolgatanga Municipal office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has begun sensitizing its clients on the Mobile Renewal system.

The   National Health Insurance Authority last year introduced a Mobile Renewal system to enhance its operation as well as minimizing overcrowding in its various region centers.

Speaking to the media at Zuarungu in the Bolgatanga East District where the scheme held a sensitization programme on March 14, 2019, Municipal Public Relations Officer of NHIS, Ms. Linda Boakye, said despite putting in place pragmatic measures, there are still challenges the scheme is faced with, hence the need to create awareness of the new policy.

“It is not just a regional challenge, but nationwide which has to do with the network. NHIS is not reluctant on it efforts to ensure that there is a smooth processing so all what it expects from you as a good citizen is, to take your time and follow the mobile renewals options that is, you first dialing *929# and follow the prompts.” She said.

Ms Boakye however stressed that, by opting for the mobile renewal it helps in saving time where an average of 12 hours every year in terms of time taken to renew NHIS membership normally saved.
