The outgoing Upper East Regional Director of Ghana National Fire Service, Commander Heroine Boakye has appealed to relevant authorities to assist in providing more staff for the regional office as it is under-staffed.

She made the appeal in an exclusively interview with A1 Radio as she leaves region for Bono East Region after serving nine months in office as the Upper East Regional Director of the Ghana National Fire Service.

“Human capacity has been a major challenge in this region. Since I took charge of this region, there is always shortage of staff. Would you believed it that in some districts they have barely 10 fire staff. Though I’m going on transfer, I hope relevant authorities will come in because the region deserved the best.” She said.

Her move according to her is not politically motivated, but due to the creation of the new region which also needs a Regional Director.

“…politically no, you know the creations of these new regions will definitely need Regional Directors to occupy the offices.” She explained.

Meanwhile some members of staff who spoke to A1 Radio were not happy with her transfer and wish something could be done to reserve the decision.
