The member of the National Democratic Congress’ Legal team, Abraham Amaliba says there are still some persons in Ghana’s Parliament who do not deserve the honour to be referred to as Honourable, contrary to public perception about Members of Parliament.
Surprisingly, Lawyer Amaliba despite being known for his “bravery” and attitude of substantiating his claims, failed to mention the Members of Parliament he thinks do not deserve the honour of being called “Honourable members”.

He was speaking on Bolgatanga based A1 Radio’s “Day Break Upper East” programme on Monday, July 1, 2019.
The host, Samuel Mbura had referred to Lawyer Amaliba as “honourable” but the latter rejected the title in the manner it has been used for Members of Parliament, saying, “… am not a Member of Parliament. … if you are calling me honourable because of my personality or you think am living honourable live, then I can accept that.”
Samuel Mbura mentioned a list of Members of Parliament, including NDC’s Isaac Adongo of the Bolgatanga Central Constituency, who Abraham Amaliba had contested and wished had not won the 2016 Parliamentary Election.
When Mr. Mbura mentioned Hon. Ayariga, Lawyer Amaliba responded: “… you are calling me honourable Ayariga or you are asking? … I know my submission has ended on that.”
Lawyer Amaliba is not the first person to say there are some Parliamentarians who do not deserve to be called honourable because of their behaviour in Parliament and in and out of their constituencies and yet none of these persons have not been bold enough to mention names.
If Lawyer Amaliba had been bold to mention the names of the dishonourable Members of Parliament, it is possible that the affected MPs would have changed their ways so as to merit the title “honourable”.
