Police in Tamale in the Northern Region wants the public to help in apprehending killers of a police officer, General Corporal Agartha Nana Nabin with staff number 5472.

On Tuesday July 30, 2019, at about 10:45 pm Agartha Nana Nabin was in charge of a three personnel team assigned to the Kumbungu Road for snap check point duties near the Star Oil Filing Station.

While there, a saloon car, ash in colour heading towards the barrier was signalled with the aid of a flash light to stop.

The car stopped and four occupants, dressed in military camouflage and covered their faces with masks, got out of the car and opened fire on Corporal Nana Nabin, killing her instantly.

Another police woman in her attempt to take cover stumbled and fell, she was spared but her weapon together with that of the deceased were taken by the occupants of the ash saloon car, who are believed to be armed robbers.

The third police officer who had then taken cover, fired at the armed men but they managed to escape with the two weapons belonging to the Ghana Police Service.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile the Northern Regional Criminal Investigations Department has started investigating the incident and wants the public to volunteer information on persons they suspect might have caused this crime.
