Member for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo has said the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) wished he lost the Saturday’s parliamentary primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Adongo won the primaries with 843 votes against his only contender, George Gamson who obtained 226 votes.
Addressing some charged supporters at the Catholic Social Center, the outspoken legislator said he poses a political threat to the NPP.
“The NPP wish that I would stay at home but unfortunately for them, the people of Bolga have demonstrated that they are behind me and I have no fear of returning the NDC back to power”.
Speaking on the recent revocation of license of some financial institutions in the country, Mr. Adongo send a word of caution to the NPP lead government saying, “over the last four weeks, they [NPP] have been on holidays because we have been fighting our primaries and we have not been commenting on the reckless collapse of the Ghanaian financial sector. In the next couple of weeks, the NDC is back with my colleagues Honorable Oto Forson, Haruna Iddrisu and with all my colleagues in parliament to hold the seat of government to fire and to restore the confidence that has been lost in the Ghanaian financial sector”.
Mr. Adongo who was confident of retaining the seat come 2020 revealed that ahead of the elections, there were some anxiety among the rank and file of the NDC that he may not return back to parliament.
“Over the last couple of weeks, there been genuinely anxiety among the NDC community across the country that I may not be coming back to parliament. Today, I am on my way back to parliament”.
