Sirigu community members appeal for support to complete a library project

The chiefs and people of Sirigu in the Kassena-Nankana West district are calling on government and philanthropic organizations to assist them complete an ultramodern library project.

The library project which started years ago by the youth of Siriguis now at its roofing level but has halted due to lack of funds.

This was made known during the 12th Sirigu Youth Association (SIYA) week celebration held in Sirigu in the Kassena-Nankana West District.

SIYA since its inception in 2002 seeks to foster unity among community members of Sirigu towards achieving the needed development the community yearns.

President of SIYA, Mathew Abagna said the library project when completed will improve the academic performance of students from Sirigu and 6 other neighboring communities.

“This project when completed will help the many students from Sirigu and its neighboring communities like Natugnia, Manyoro, Yua, Mirigu, Kandiga and Nabango”.

While pledging to ensure transparency in financial commitment to the project, Mr. Abagna appealed for government support in putting up an E-learning center in the area.

Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga constituency, Rudolf Nsowine Amenga-etego was honored for his support to the community members towards putting up the project.

Mr. Amenga-etego entreated the chiefs and people to remain united in championing the needed development the community envisages.

“Knowledge is the basis of development and the idea that the youth had that they needed a library tells me that the youth have a future in this town”.

He pledged to continue supporting the community members in roofing the project.

Chief of Sirigu, Naba Roland Akwara Atogumdeeya III who inculcated the spirit of communal labor to youth of Sirigu by voluntarily carrying blocks and mortar to build the projectalso appealed to government and benevolent organizations to assist in completing the project.

He used the occasion to outdoor elected assembly members in the area and called on them to work closely with community members in bringing the needed development to their various electoral areas.
