Covid 19: Methodist Church,Rain Inn Supermarket donate to 3 frontline agencies

The Methodist Church of Ghana, Bolgatanga circuit in collaboration with Rain Inn Supermarket has donated items worth Ghc11, 000 to 3 frontline agencies in the Upper East Region.

These institutions, Upper East regional police command, the regional hospital and the media benefited from 55 cartons of liquid soap and 10 bundles of kitchen tissue to aid the protection against the spread of the virus.

Superintendent Minister of the Bolgatanga Circuit of Methodist Ghana, Very Reverend Cosmos Kabaya said the church in its social responsibility before the close down of public gatherings launched an appeal for support in tackling the novel coronavirus. 

He added that the appeal attracted the attention of the Chief Executive Officer of Rain Inn Supermarket who is also a staunch member and leader of the church to offer his support.

The Superintendent Minister who made this known at separate events commended the police services, the health workers and the media for the role they are playing in a quest to tackle the spread of the virus.

“This coronavirus has become an issue and it calls for collaborative efforts to be able to deal with the situation. That is why we launched an appeal and our brother has supported us with these items. Your commitment to be in front for the fight against this virus is quite commendable. We pray that the good Lord Himself will protect you so that none of you will be infected”, he said.

CEO of Rain Inn Supermarket, Albert Nyarko said the gesture formed part of his outfit corporate social responsibility to the fight against the virus.

“It is very difficult for the church because churches are no more functioning and since this thing broke out, the business too has been something else. But we all need to support, not what you have but it has come to a point that whether you have it or not, we all have to do something, that’s why I supported”, Mr. Nyarko indicated.

The Upper East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ampofo Duku and Head of the Administration at the Regional Hospital, Zakaria Yakubu at the separate donations thanked the church and Rain Inn Supermarket for the gesture. The beneficiary institutions all pledged to put the donation into good use.
