Bolgatanga-based Tanga Radio, a subsidiary of Tanga Multimedia in the capital of the Upper East region was raised down by fire in the dying hours of Wednesday.
Speaking to A1 Radio, the Director of the station, Bawa Agana revealed that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but revealed that only a few plastic chairs were salvaged as the radio station’s equipment and other properties have been burnt beyond recognition. “Everything is burnt down beyond recognition. The console, transmitter, computers in the newsroom and the studio have all been burnt beyond recognition. All the furniture has been burnt down with the exception of the receptionist’s desk and a few plastic chairs” he said.
Asked how soon he thought the Radio Station would be up on its feet again, Mr. Agana said he could not tell as it would cost a lot of money to rebuild the station.
