Togbe Afede the XIV donates food items to 250 Muslim families in the Upper East Region

President of the National House of Chiefs and Agbogbomefia of Asogli State ,Togbe Afede the XIV, has made donations to the Muslim Community in Upper East Region.

The donation is expected to benefit 250 families and it forms part of the charity works by Togbe Afede in the country.

Presenting the items on his behalf, Paramount Chief of Sakote Traditional, Naba Sigri Bewong said the donation was to support the observance of Layaltul Quadiri in order to ask for Allah to intercede in these trying times of Coronavirus.

He used this opportunity to appeal to other religious bodies in the country make it a priority to pray for the safety every citizen in the country against the disease.

“According to the Islamic jurisprudence, today is Laylatul Qadiri, meaning the most significant day of within the entire month of Ramadan and the day the Holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet of Islam (Peace be Upon him)”He said.

Naba Sigri Bewong added that “The Ramadan has traveled far and I do know by now ,most Muslim families doing the fasting would be exhausted in terms of their food needs hence, I decided to come with my widows mite”.

However, he encouraged the Muslim community in the region, to observe the Covid-19 protocol, such as washing hands, wearing of face mask, using alcohol based sanitizers and social distancing.

After receiving the food items, the Upper East Regional, Imam Sheik Yusif Adam expressed satisfaction, as he extended his appreciation to the National House of Chief’s President ,Togbe Afede the XIV for his kind gesture offered the Muslim community in the region.

He further assured, that the items received will be shared among the less privileged within the communities and requested for further assistance for the Muslim youth seeking support in tertiary institutions as that was a major challenge they were experiencing.

The items received included;20 bags of sugar ,rice and 10 packs of Tea leaves.
