The Management of A1 Radio has called on the Regional Executives of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region to advise the party’s leadership in the Talensi Constituency to desist from inciting their members and supporters against the media house and its staff.

In a spate of one month, the Executives of the NDC in Talensi Constituency have issued two statements accusing A1 Radio of a planned agenda to discredit the party and its Member of Parliament, BT Baba in favour of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its Parliamentary Candidate, Thomas Duanaab.

After a recent news publication on A1Radioonline.com published on May 30, 2020 under the headline; TALENSI PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE FOR NPP DONATES FURNITURE TO EDUCATION DIRECTORATE, NDC in Talensi Constituency on Sunday May 31, 2020, issued a statement signed by the constituency Secretary, Zinekena Solomon T.T.B. They claimed that A1 Radio stole the project [furniture] from the Northern Development Authority (NDA) to project the NPP Parliamentary Candidate.

The statement further claimed, “After critically perusing the publication, it appears that A1 Radio in Bolgatanga seems to have an agenda against the NDC in Talensi and most constituencies in the Upper East Region. The heading of the publication is consummately misleading and geared towards projecting the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Thomas Duanaab for no job done. This bizarre remark and claim made by A1 Radio should be treated with the contempt it deserves.”

Having assessed possible threats in the aforementioned paragraph and other portions of the statement, plus the knowledge of political violence in Ghana and attacks on journalists by political party supporters and activists in the country especially during election periods, Management of A1 Radio has concluded that the attempts by the NDC in Talensi to tag the company as anti-NDC is a threat on the company and its staff.

Speaking on A1 Radio Morning Show dubbed; DayBreak Upper East on Monday June 1, 2020, Managing News Editor and General Manager of A1 Radio, William Nlanjerbor JALULAH, advised the regional leadership of the NDC to call their counterparts in Talensi to order.

Mr Jalulah indicated that A1 Radio was opened for constructive criticisms on its works but not unnecessary political tagging and name calling when reportage does not go in favour of a particular politician or political party.

He said, “You can do your politics but don’t rope in A1 Radio. If we do our work and you think that the manner in which we are doing the work does not favour your course and you have genuine issues, you can raise them but not to incite us against your supporters by making unsubstantiated claims that A1 Radio has an agenda against your party [NDC].”

Mr. Jalulah, therefore, assured that A1 Radio does not have any agenda against any political party or an individual politician and for that matter, opened to serve the public with the right information.

And if anyone has a difficult with a genuine concern, can resort to the appropriate channel for redress.

Meanwhile, he has impressed upon all political parties to work in harmony with the media without resorting to public vilification and intimidation of Journalists in the country because, it undermines democracy.
