As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) prepares for its parliamentary primaries in constituencies with incumbent members of parliament across the country tomorrow, all eyes are fixated on the electoral outcome of Navrongo Central seat in Upper East Region.

The incumbent MP is Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Adda who is facing a tough battle with the Upper East Regional Minister,Tangoba Abayage.

The NPP secured three constituencies out of fifteen in the Upper East Region in the 2016 general elections;Tempane ,Zebila and Navrongo Central.

Out of these three seats, two are under contest which are Navrongo and Zebila. MP for Tempani , Joseph Dindiok Kpemka, Deputy Attorney General has been acclimated.

Zebila has the incumbent MP Frank Fuseini Adongo contested by a former Deputy National Organizer and Regional Communications Director,Dr.John Kingsley Krugu. The campaign in this constituency has so far been mild and on a low tone.

But Navrongo Central has attracted public attention because of the vigorous campaigns and personalities of the candidates involved. Tangoba Abayage is the first female to contest the Parliamentary primaries of the NPP in that Constituency. She is also the first female Regional Minister since the region was created for the past three decades.

Joseph Kofi Adda Jon the other hand has been the MP for Navrongo Central since 2003 after a by-election. He lost to the NDC in 2012 but recaptured the seat in 2016 from former Defense and Interior Minister, Mark Owen Wayongo.

On the political score, both NDC and NPP have won the seat three times each making it a swinging constituency. So the selection of a winnable candidate to represent the NPP in the upcoming general elections has become very critical in order to face the NDC’s Candidate on standby.

Stakes on each candidate are high and only the electoral outcome will determine the winner.

Speaking on Daybreak Upper East with Samuel Mbura, Upper East Regional Chairman of NPP , Anthony Namoo said all measures have been put in place for the elections without challenges.

According to him, over 1000 delegates are expected to cast their votes at their electoral areas in both Zebila and Navrongo Central Constituencies.

Mr. Namoo impressed upon both delegates and candidates to ensure that elections become free, fair, transparent and incident free because “The NPP is a party that believes in democracy.

Meanwhile, he has added that security arrangements have been made to guide the election process.
