An Accra-based philanthropist has donated food items worth Ghc2, 000.00 to students of the Gbeogo School of the Deaf in the Talensi district of the Upper East Region.

The donation according to the philanthropist,  was part of her contribution to humanity to support the fight against the spread of the novel Coronavirus pandemic in the school.

The donated items comprise 4 bags of 50kg rice, a gallon of cooking oil, a carton of milk, and others.

The philanthropist who wants to be unknown said she was touched after her first visit to the school.

“I came from Accra for a funeral at Talensi here and one evening I was taking a walk and I saw a signboard which reads  Gbeogo School of the Deaf, then, I entered the campus interacted with some of the students.

I was not happy when I saw the school and its environment. There I saw the need to extend a helping hand to the students and teachers”.

She entreated well-to-do persons in  society to usually give to the less privileged  as that will gain them the reward in heaven.

Assistant headmaster of GSD, Mr. Sylvester Atiayo commended the philanthropist for her kind gesture and appealed to philanthropist, NGOs, corporate organizations to also support the school in many diverse ways that will impact the lives of the vulnerable students.

The Gbeogo School of the Deaf was established in 1996 in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region with the sole aim to cater for the numerous hearing impaired pupils in the region.

But the school continues to lack teaching and technical equipment support students’ easy comprehension and skills development.
