Private Legal Practitioner and Philanthropist,Dr. Rainer Akumperigya has made donations to some selected senior high schools in the Upper East Region.
The donations made aimed at augmenting other contributions towards the sensitization and fight against Covid-19.
The donated items were:1, 570 pieces of Nose Masks ,6 drums of liquid soap, 3 gallons hand sanitizers,18 Veronica buckets.
The beneficiary schools included ;Zorko SHS, Gowrie SHS,Namoo and Bongo SHS.
Nose masks were also distributed to some communities within the Bongo District.
Dr. Akumperigya used the opportunity to educate the students on the spread of the Coronavirus and mitigative measures to prevent it’s spread.
He urged the students to follow the safety protocols to stay safe in their campuses.
Dr. Akumperigya added that the motive behind his donation was informed by the vulnerability of students to the virus in the second cycle institutions in the country ,more especially the Bongo District following media reports of inadequate supply of PPEs to the schools.
According to him, it was also part of his contributions to his district and community especially his “Almamata” Gowrie SHTS.
He also urged the students to be strong and concentrate on their studies and pass their final exams despite the Corona scare.
Meanwhile,the Bongo District Director of education, Mr. Madison Amokase Anaane was present during the donation ,expressed gratitude to Dr. Rainer Akumperigya for his kind gesture and also reiterated the need for the students to study hard in accomplishing and achieving their academic goals.
The donations were received with commendations from Headmasters of the beneficiary schools and community elders.
