2,784 candidates to sit for BECE in Bolgatanga Municipality

The Bolgatanga Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service in the Upper East Region has announced that, a total of 2,784 candidates in 64 public and private schools will sit for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in September.

The candidates comprising 1,177 males and 1,607 females will first write their mock examination in preparedness for the BECE.

 Speaking to A1 NEWS, the Examination Officer of the directorate, Apam Elvis Winimi, said, the directorate had put in place adequate measures to guarantee the safety of candidates in the wake of the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.

 “64 schools comprising 19 private and 45 public schools made up of 2,784 candidates will sit for the BECE come September 2020.

 All Junior High Schools within the Municipality have been provided with the PPE. Each student has received one hand sanitizer, two nose mask and for the schools, ten nose mask for each. Veronica buckets, tissues, liquid soaps are being given to schools depending on the number of students it has and also two gun infrared thermometers to each school”. 

Mr. Winimi, urged parents to support their wards revise their notes and take the examination seriously in order to excel.

 Proprietor of Golden Step Academy in Bolgatanga, Robert Atiah, said, private schools have received government’s personal protective equipment.
