The Upper East Regional Deputy Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Johnson Ayine has pledged to end what seems to be votes monopoly enjoyed by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sherigu community.

Election statistics over the past years, indicate that, the NDC has been winning elections in the fast growing Sherigu community, which electorates describe as “the decider” of which political party wins the Bolgatanga Constituency.

But as a matter of urgency to change the narrative in this year’s election, Mr. Ayine, stated that, the NPP in its three and half-year has set an impeccable track record in the community ranging from infrastructural projects to social intervention programmes to end the NDC votes monopoly in the community.

He disclosed this, after an assessment and performance review of the NPP led Nana Addo’s government in the community.

“The Bolga-Sherigu-Naaga road has been awarded, the contractor is working seriously and it is going to be a bitumen. We have gotten two school projects and a borehole for Azaalonge primary. Under the 1 Million Dollar per Constituency, we have completed the school project at the Apasinaba primary school which was started by the Anglican Church. All the schools in Sherigu are under the school feeding program. We have equipped the Punpuugo CHPS center while a 1V1D project is ongoing at Kalbeo-Basengo.”

Speaking on employment opportunities, Mr. Ayine stated that “there are about 84 people recruited under the youth in afforestation, two people have been employed as agric extension officers and a good number of the community members are with the Zoomlion”.

Mr. Ayine, who pledged to continue lobbying for projects for the community expressed optimism that, all communities in Sherigu without electricity will be connected to the national grid before the end of 2020.

Mr. Ayine touted the government’s achievement when he addressed polling station agents, area coordinators and supporters of the NPP who contributed in diverse ways towards a successful end of the voters registration exercise in the Sherigu community.

Mr. Ayine, who is also a native of Sherigu believes that, the only opportunity the community can continue to benefit from the monumental policies and programmes from the current government is when voters in the community change their voting pattern by voting massively for the NPP in the coming polls.

“We have people from this community who are with the NDC with high ranging qualification than some of us but they couldn’t lobby for projects for the community. But if we, common people who are with the NPP in this community can lobby government for developments, it means that the high class people who are following the NDC in this community has done a disservice to the community.

So I am calling on people of Sherigu especially the big guys like Dr. Sumaila, Dr. Agongo and Willet who are with the NDC to join the NPP for more developments for the community”.
