The Upper West Regional House of Chiefs has elected new leaders to lead the House and also represent the Regional House of Chiefs at the National level. All seven positions were contested unopposed.

In a story published by gbcghanaonline.com, it was reported that the Upper West Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Ali Osman, said per the rules of elections, when positions are contested unopposed, the persons contesting automatically win the said positions.

Therefore, the Daffiama Naa, Naa Dikomwine Domalae takes over from Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton as the new President of the Upper West Regional House of Chiefs.

He is to be assisted by the Lawra Naa, Naa Pouwele Karbo as his Vice President.

Other elected executives of the house include; The Tumu Kuoro, Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton, the Gwollu Kouro, Kuoro Limann Kuri-Buktie and the Dorimon Naa, Naa Danah Sohimwinye Gore have been elected to act as representatives to the National House of Chiefs. The rest are Naa Dikomwine Domalae and Naa Pouwele Karbo.

The new executives who are to be sworn in on November 7, 2020 would be presiding at the regional administration level, over the affairs of an institution that has now come under a barrage of criticism following what has been described by many as the indiscriminate endorsement of flagbearers ahead of the upcoming general elections by a section of chiefs and traditional leaders across the country.
