The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is targeting 11 parliamentary seats in the Upper East Region in the upcoming general elections. An NPP Communicator in the United States of America (USA), Majeed Nasir, has revealed.
Currently, the party has 3 of the 15 seats in the region while the main opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has 12.
However, speaking on a sponsored NPP-USA Political Talkshow, Truth Be Told on A1 Radio, Mr. Nasir said besides the 3 parliamentary seats already being occupied by the party, they are expecting to win more than 8 additional seats in the region.

According to him, the drastic overturn of votes in the region shall be in appreciation of the fact that the NPP government had satisfactorily delivered on its mandate; pointing out some of government’s intervention in road infrastructure across the 5 Northern Regions.
“We will capture more than 8 seats in addition to the 3 that we have. We are taking everything because we have performed; and the performance is going to show.
Our people are ready. They are saying that have voted one way for a very long time; they are tired and are now ready to embrace change; a change that will see more development coming their way.” He said.
When asked to name the constituencies the NPP is targeting, Mr. Nasir who indicated that he spent most of his youthful life in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region listed Builsa South, Builsa North, Chiana- Paga, Navrongo Central and Bongo constituencies.
The rest according to him include Talensi, Nabdam, Bawku Central and Bolgatanga Central among others.
He however, did not disclose how the party intends to perform that “magic”.
“Its NPP now, we are going to paint Upper East blue, red and white; that I can assure you” He told show host Emmanuel Aboagye.
