Parliamentary Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency, John Dumelo has apologized for inciting supporters of his party to beat anyone who attempts to rig the upcoming December polls.

Mr. Dumelo was seen in a widely circulated video addressing a campaign event where he charged supporters of the NDC to be vigilant because he was aware of some attempts by opponents to rig the election.

Speaking in a Ghanaian local dialect, He said the NDC this time around will not leave it to God but rather will beat any person who gets caught trying to cheat.

However the comments by the actor turn politician did not go down well with a section of the general public which has compelled him to swallow his own words.

In a Tweet, Mr. Dumelo posted that “I’m wholeheartedly sorry for my comments in the said video. I’m a man of peace and will always promote peace. Let’s make Ghana and Ayawaso West a better place. #Idey4u.”

John Dumelo is going up against incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Lydia Alhassan for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat.
