FC TANGA TO REPRESENT UPPER EAST IN F5 NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

FC Tanga, a Bolgatanga-based soccer team, is set to represent the Upper East Region at the F5 National Tournament to be held in Accra.

The accomplishment of this great feat follows FC Tanga’s victory over 6 other football teams in the Upper East Region; with one team from Walewale in the North East Region.

FC Tanga at the final stage of the competition inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Boison FC at Ramsey sports stadium last Tuesday.

For emerging winners at the regional level, FC Tanga was awarded a trophy and also gets the chance of representing the Upper East Region at the F5 national tournament to be staged in Accra.

Coach of FC Tanga, Darko Daniel, also known as Zidane, expressed optimism of bringing the trophy home when his team goes to represent the region in Accra.

He said “It is not about going there to participate. We are praying by the grace of God when they call us to come and represent the region, we will go and make the region proud. We will go bring the trophy home.”

Bashiru Abdul Rahman, a striker for FC Tanga, was adjudged the top scorer of the tournament.

F5 tournament is a competitive football game played by five outfield players on each opposing side.

It has its headquarters in Canada.

The tournament was first introduced in Ghana in the year 2018.

Speaking with A1sports in an interview, Country Partner of F5 tournament, Coach Kwame Asante, noted that F5 tournament was aimed at providing the platform to players in underserved communities to bring their talents to the limelight.

According to him, “F5 is a very big tournament played all over the world,” adding that “there is F5 world championship and we are the country partners of Ghana.”

Describing F5 as a very big tournament played all over the world, Mr. Asante added that there is a world championship of F5 Tournament.
