Campaigning ahead of the 2024 general election has began rather too early in the Upper East Region as residents are being called upon to consider voting massively for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for more development.

Former Upper East Regional Minister, Rockson Ayine Bukari, is begging the people of Bolgatanga, Nabdam, Bongo and Tongo; known jointly as BONABOTO, invoking God’s name, to dump the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and ‘marry’ NPP in Ghana’s next general election.

According to him, the BONABOTO Zone, over the years has witnessed lack developmental initiatives due to its failure to rally behind NPP.

In an exclusive interview with A1 Radio, Mr. Bukari asked the people of the BONABOTO to pinpoint one tangible developmental project undertaken by NDC in the area; despite the many years they have supported the party.

“I don’t want to take your minds far to the 90s; but just compare the NPP four years in power to that of the NDC eight years. The difference is clear. NPP under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo is all about providing pro-poor initiatives that will bring growth to the less privileged in society. We can talk of 1D1F, 1V1D, and the rest, all in the name of helping the poor in society. Ask yourself; what has the NDC brought since its eight years in power?”

Comparing other regions to the Upper East, the onetime Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) said the “People of Upper West know how to play politics better than us in the Upper East Region. They are looking for development, what will help transform their communities and not what will help bring others down. Our people only know how to bring divisions amongst themselves.”

According to him, for the Upper East region to have a situation where potable water, school infrastructure, access to good roads among others, would no more be a matter of concern, its people must rally behind the NPP come 2024.

He however commended Ghanaians for renewing the mandate of President Akufo-Addo to continue his second term as President of the Republic of Ghana.
