The Builsa North District in the Upper East Region has been elevated to the status of a municipality.

It could be recalled that President Akufo-Addo, during the celebration of the Feok festival in 2018, announced that he had signed a document for the elevation of the district to a municipal status.

But speaking to A1 News, the Municipal Chief Executive for the assembly, David Afoko, confirmed that a Legislative Instrument (LI) 2422 was laid before parliament for a period of 21 days before the upgrade of the assembly to a municipal status.

Mr. Afoko thanked the president for the honor done the people of Builsa North.

He believes the elevation will provide more jobs for the people and increase revenue mobilization to propel the fast development of the area.

Builsa North adds up to Bolgatanga, Kassena Nankana and Bawku to make 4 municipal assemblies in the Upper East Region.
