The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Pusiga Constituency in the Upper East Region in the December 7, 2021 polls, Abdul-Karim Zanni Dubiure, is challenging the election of Laadi Ayii Ayamba as Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.
Mr. Dubiure in a petition filed at the Bolgatanga High Court on Friday, January 8, 2021, claimed there were incidents of over-voting in certain polling stations.
The suit filed had the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) and Madam Ayamba of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the respondents.
Madam Ayamba was given 8 days to file a notice of appearance to the petition filed in the Bolgatanga High Court.
According to the election results declared by the EC, Madam Ayamba polled 14,929 of the total votes cast whiles Mr. Dubiure obtained 14,866 votes.
Meanwhile, Madam Ayamba has already be sworn-in as MP for Pusiga; going for her 3rd term.
