Communication Team Member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Atubiga, has not only said he is disappointed with the attitude of some northern brothers but described some of them as a breed of wicked people.

Mr. Atubiga who hails from Binduri in the Upper East Region of Ghana said the northerner he grew up to be was not the same northerners he has seen as they have what he described as “pull me down syndrome” and can not be trusted.

The two times Parliamentary contestant at the Binduri Constituency, on his Whatsapp Page shared with A1radioonline.com said he has had close observations with some northerners, and their attitudes do not augur well for the growth of the Upper regions.

He said “I just don’t know why today’s northern breed is very wicked to its own. Unlike our fathers who pulled each other along. Today’s northerner wants to see his brother becoming to him every day to beg for help, he may be in a capacity to help you to be self-sufficient, but he will never do it. He(northern) enjoys seeing his own coming to kiss his ass, begging for help always, that gives today’s northerner the joy of having wealth or power.”

“Most successful northerner today would tell you, they made it through another race/tribe, not their own who had the opportunity to help them. Today’s northerners see their brothers as useless in capacity building, especially when they have power. I have always advised most northerners to explore more with other races for opportunities than their own.”

Making reference to a piece of advice he received from one of his northern friend and the understanding he picked from him, Mr. Atubiga narrated that “Abu a friend of my in Kumasi- a very successful businessman has always told me that today’s northerners are like family, but very good long-distance when it comes to leaning a helping hand. This has made me understand why successful northerners will open up and support other races/ tribes than their own. Look around you. You would see that successful northerner (s) giving helping hands or opportunities to others race than their own. Because of today’s northerners attitude or pull him down attitudes, they will try to find out how one made it.”

Mr. Atubiga who linked these attitudes to part of the reasons causing the slow growth of the Upper regions added that “Even Northerners to develop our areas has been very slow when allowed to lead or hold public offices/positions. The wicked mindset of today’s northerners baffles my imagination sometimes. We are good at it; let’s get rid of him before he takes over before he becomes somebody to challenge us soon. Who is he to be given this opportunity? He doesn’t respect me to be given this opportunity. Today’s northerner would want to be the only financial helper/ power banker to all northerners in Ghana than helping to have or creating more in our regions, constituencies, towns, and districts.”

The NDC presidential hopeful, therefore, called on the youth of the upper regions to desist from such attitudes, and rather seek unity for the betterment of the seven regions of the North.
