Management of the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo in the Kassena Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region has debunked claims the hospital had closed down due to high reported cases of Covid-19.

There have been news publications on some media platforms that the War Memorial Hospital had closed down after recording high cases of coronavirus infections and the death of a staff nurse in line of duty.

But Acting Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Eric Wedam, has described the media reports as false.

He said “We have to also make this clear that there was no point in time we closed the whole facility down. What we did was; we disinfected some of the wards so at that time we close those wards down. So it is not true that we closed down the whole hospital.”

Dr. Wedam made this known at premises of the hospital on Tuesday, when the Acting Upper East Regional Minister, Tangoba Abayage, visited the facility to donate some medical essentials to the hospital.

He gusture was in response to a request from the hospital management when the hospital ran out of personal protective equipment (PPEs) some weeks ago.
