Nasia accident victims were conveyed in a police patrol van

Despite the allocation of an ambulance stationed at Walewale in the West Mamprusi Municipality of North East Region, victims of Tuesday’s fatal accident at Nasia were conveyed to hospitals in Police patrol van; A1 Radio has gathered.

The accident occurred today Tuesday January 26, 2021 at about 3:00am when a Kia bus with registration number GS 4976-19 heading to Bawku from Kumasi crashed into the Nasia metallic bridge.

According to an eyewitness, the ambulance service in Walewale failed to respond to their distress calls from the scene. About two hours after the accident, a police patrol van was brought in and conveyed the victims to the hospital.

In his response to why his office could not respond to the distress calls of the victims, Moses Atampugre Ayamga, Head of Ambulance service in the West Mamprusi Municipality, rendered an apology for the incident, and explained that the his ambulance has been out of service for about one week due to faulty brakes.

From an initial number of 5 deaths on spot, death toll from the dawn accident is now 11.
