President Akufo-Addo has named the Upper East Region among the 9 hardest hit regions in the latest surge in Covid-19 cases in Ghana.
According to the President who made this known in his 23rd update on measures being taken to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in Ghana said “When I delivered update no. 22, thirteen out of the sixteen regions had recorded active cases; toady, all sixteen regions have active cases.
Indeed, Greater Accra, Central, Western, Ashanti, Eastern, Upper East, Upper West, Volta and Northern Regions are the hardest hit, accounting for 94 percent of the total number of active cases.”
706 cases of Covid-19 have reportedly been confirmed in the Upper as at Friday, January 29, 2021, with Bolgatanga Municipality having most of the cases.
Information available to A1Radioonline.com indicates that Bawku Municipality and Bongo District have also recorded significant increases in Coronavirus infections in the region.
