The Founder of the National Interest Movement (NIM) and Former Flagbearer of the Convention Peoples Party, Dr. Michael Abu Sakara has joined the list of Ghanaians blaming the 2020 campaigns for the upsurge in Covid-19 cases in Ghana.
Even though he believes that large gatherings at funerals, church, nightclubs and other social events might have contributed to the increasing numbers of Covid-19 cases, a bigger portion of the blame must be targeted at the politicians including President Akufo-Addo.
Dr. Abu Sakara has therefore asked President Akufo-Addo to apologize to the people of Ghana for the reckless abandon with which campaigns were done in 2020 in the face Covid-19.
He wrote a his facebook page: “Mr. President your stewardship in efforts to reign in the pandemic before elections was appreciated. We must however hear an apology for the reckless abandon with which campaign rallies were held. An apology in that regard is needed to restore your credibility in your fight against covid-19 on our behalf.”
